Hi, I'm Morgan! I am a researcher, writer, and online educator passionate about helping others build simple, effective notetaking and knowledge management systems that they’ll actually use to develop thought and finish projects.

In 2026, I will complete my PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies, which I’ve written using my own knowledge management system—a Zettelkasten-inspired approach in Obsidian. Throughout my PhD journey, I also grew my educational YouTube channel to more than 35K subscribers, and my instructional video on my PhD notetaking technique has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

I spent years searching for a notetaking system that wasn't just effective, but also actually mimicked the way I think. After completing a Master’s degree using paper notebooks, I knew there had to be a better approach, but no one in the arts and humanities academic space in 2019 could tell me what it was. I often heard, “There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. You just have to figure out what works for you.” While that’s true to an extent—everyone’s system will look different—I knew there had to be some underlying philosophy or structure to the notetaking process I was missing.

That was when I discovered the Zettelkasten system, and my notetaking—and therefore my thinking—changed overnight.

The piece I was missing, and was never mentioned at any level of my schooling, was knowledge management. It's all well and good to take notes, but those notes need somewhere to go, somewhere you can find and use them. The zettelkasten system gave me the flexibility to be creative in my thinking, get inspired, and truly enjoy the learning and idea generation process. Now, I help other researchers, writers, artists, and thinkers do the same.

When I’m not taking notes, I run, watch theatre, read widely, and write poetry. And then… I write all my experiences, book annotations, and poem ideas down in my personal knowledge management system so they can inspire future work.
